NANCY TRAFICANTI PRESENTS

The melodies of Henry Mancini accompanied NANCY'S latest film, entitled "SO YOU WANT TO KNOW JUST WHAT QUESTIONS THOSE REALLY OLD ROTARIANS ARE GOING TO ASK YOU IF YOU APPLY FOR A ROTARY GRADUATION SCHOLARSHIP." Potential scholarship applicants of the future will now have the ability to determine what the process consists of by watching this 5-minute film. Thank you, NANCY! One suggestion from this reporter - have THE PINK PANTHER do the credits.

President's Message

This week I am happy to share a message I received Thursday afternoon, from District Governor Karl Stucki.

"Congratulations! We (District 5170) submitted your site for the Best Club Website. You are to be awarded! One out of 68 worldwide!!!
Karl Stucki, DG 2000-2001

In the organization of Rotary International, there are clubs, districts, and zones. There are 34 zones. We are the Los Altos Rotary Club in District 5170, in Zone 24. A Zone is 1/34th of RI, so it's quite a large area. Each club has a president, the district has a governor, and a zone has a coordinator. Our coordinator is Jerry Barden, whom I do not know. But he has excellent taste in websites.

Jerry writes: "Zone 24 received several outstanding club website nominations, an excellent indication of the progress in electronic communications made due to this year's technological focus of President Frank Devlyn and the Technology Task Force. The decision was very difficult. However, after due consideration, I ask that Rotary and President Frank honor these two websites as the "Best Club Websites" in Zone 24:

Rotary Club of Los Altos, District 5170, Zone 24
www.losaltosrotary.org

Rotary Club of Angels-Murphys, District 5220, Zone 24
www.a-mrotary.org

The sixty-eight clubs receiving this award will be listed in the special
International Convention newspaper published at the Convention. Award Certificates will be forwarded by Rotary International to respective Governors for later presentation at the District and/or local club level.

My congratulations and thanks to our Club Information Officer and Webmaster, Steve Gruber. And though he is pleased for our club, as might be expected, Steve says, "We can do even better."
See you Thursday,
Ginny
